Workshop helping Cancer Centre teens feel confident in their own skin
The teens in our Monash Children’s Cancer Centre (CCC) were treated to a night of glamour with a special body image and fashion workshop last week.
The Body Image Workshop, hosted by the CCC Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) clinic in partnership with the Ricky Taylor Foundation, aimed to equip teens being treated for cancer, with life tools for positive self-esteem.
Life coach and fashion industry expert, Thushari Sumanasekera led the discussion around healthy perceptions and positivity, and the group were treated to a delicious variety of catering provided by the Koala Kids Foundation.
The teens then had the chance to go shopping, choosing from a range of stunning outfits supplied by the Ricky Taylor Foundation.
“It’s important to feel comfortable and not worry about what other people think,” said cancer patient, Milly during the workshop.
It was a fun evening for all! A huge thank you to the Ricky Taylor Foundation, Thushari Sumanasekera, Koala Kids and the AYA clinic for making this possible, you’re our heroes!
