Monash Children’s Hospital:
A podiatrist is a health professional who deals with the prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of medical and surgical conditions of the feet and lower limbs.
Paediatric podiatrists work across Monash Children’s Hospital Acute, Rehabilitation and Community services.
Conditions treated include those resulting from bone and joint disorders, soft tissue and muscular pathologies as well as neurological and circulatory disease.
Podiatrists are also able to diagnose and treat any complications which affect the lower limb and play an important role in maintaining mobility.

Outpatient services are provided to children with complex medical problems requiring specialist care. A professional referral is required.
Priorities exist in the hospital setting to ensure those with a medical need for podiatry have access to services.
Community Podiatry Services
Services are provided at Monash Health Community sites, home or other community venues, working with children and families around developmental concerns, or movement difficulties (pain, injury, lack of flexibility, asymmetry).
Referrals to community physiotherapy are accepted from any source, including family.
