General Paediatrics
To support the General Paediatrics department at
Monash Children’s Hospital:
The General Paediatrics Department is often the first point of contact your child has with Monash Children’s Hospital.
Our department consists of over 14 paediatricians providing inpatient care across the three Monash Children’s Hospital sites – Clayton, Dandenong and Casey – with outpatient clinics at these sites and also at Pakenham.
We look after children from the newborn period to 18 years of age with acute and chronic medical problems as inpatients and outpatients.
The General Paediatrics Team has expertise in diagnosing and treating acute medical conditions. We also specialise in the coordination of care for complex medical conditions and work closely with subspecialty and allied health teams as required.
We care for inpatients, day admissions and outpatients. Our department uses our diverse clinical backgrounds and experience collaboratively to provide the best clinical care for our patients.
Teaching the next generation of health professionals is part of our core business. As a result, we incorporate teaching of medical students and junior doctors into our clinics and ward rounds. Our paediatric team actively participate in education and examination of student doctors and those training to specialise in paediatrics.
