Are you a compassionate nurse looking for an opportunity to specialise in Paediatrics? Then now is the time to join our supportive nursing team at Monash Children’s Hospital, caring for child and adolescent patients from birth to 18 years of age.

We’re looking for experienced registered nurses who want to move into Paediatrics to come and work in some of our unique, state-of-the-art wards. You will excel in these roles with your previous experience in acute or subacute nursing, your family-centred approach to patient care, and your desire to make a difference to our young patients.

While we would love for you to have Paediatric experience, we have an amazing, dedicated team of nurses who can support your learning and development while working, so if you can demonstrate strong clinical judgement and a genuine desire for this area of nursing, we want to hear from you.

What you need:

  • A willingness to learn and a desire to specialise in Paediatrics
  • Previous acute or subacute experience, Paediatrics is a bonus
  • Compassion and a commitment to providing outstanding family-centred care
  • The ability to work across 24/7 rotating rosters
  • Registered Nursing qualifications

Monash Children’s Hospital is a network of paediatric healthcare services across three sites – our main campus is in Clayton (co-located with Monash Medical Centre) with satellite sites at Dandenong and Casey Hospitals. Every year, we care for over 100,000 children.

We have Victoria’s largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and provide leading paediatric services in Rehabilitation, Oncology, Paediatric Intensive Care Unit, and Palliative Care.

Aviary Ward is a 24-bed unit specialising in Neurology, Adolescent and Rehabilitation patients. You have the opportunity to work across acute and sub-acute areas of nursing, allowing you to continue to develop your clinical skills in a genuinely supportive team environment.

Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) Transition to Specialty Practice

PICU is a dedicated paediatric tertiary 10-bed unit with a complex patient mix and is one of 2 Paediatric intensive care referral units for the State of Victoria. We admit over 700 children a year with a broad range of general and subspecialty paediatric as well as surgical conditions, allowing for ongoing learning and development for our nurses.

The PICU TSP is designed to advance registered nurses in their career and transition into Paediatric Critical Care Nursing through supported education, including study days, supernumerary time and ongoing clinical support. We also offer post-graduate studies in critical care partnered with Melbourne University.

Acute or paediatric nursing experience is required for these roles.

Forest Ward

Forest Ward is a 28-bed ward predominantly caring for surgical patients; however, we also take on medical and adolescent and some renal patients. Exposure to a variety of unique surgical interventions, both pre and post-op, mean that you will always be learning in these roles.

You will be surrounded by a supportive team who encourages continued learning and who supports each other every day.
