Monash Children’s Hospital is incredibly grateful to the Lions Club of Waverley who have very generously donated 25 Kangaroo Care chairs to Monash Newborn.
Kangaroo care chairs allow for safe and comfortable skin-to-skin contact for premature babies and their families.
Research has shown that kangaroo care attracts a wide range of physiological and emotional benefits, not only for babies but also their families. Skin-to-skin contact helps babies improve their respiratory and heart rates, while families enjoy the emotional bonding aspect of kangaroo care.
Parents like Matthew and Felicity Leddin are thrilled to have greater access to kangaroo care, relishing in every moment they can spend with their one-month-old baby Ethan who was born at 24 weeks gestation.
Members of the Lions Club of Waverley today toured Monash Newborn and were able to see the kangaroo care chairs they worked so hard to donate.
Thanks to two years fantastic fundraising efforts, Monash Newborn now has one kangaroo care chair per room, allowing families to spend more time bonding with their babies.
