Casey Hospital has a dedicated Monash Children’s Hospital Ward (Ward F) which is staffed by doctors and experienced nursing staff.
The ward has both medical and surgical patients. The medical patients are usually admitted from the emergency department or referred from other hospitals. Four consultant paediatricians care for the medical patients.
The surgical patients have post-operative follow-up in the outpatient department at Casey Hospital or in the surgeon’s private consulting rooms. Medical patients requiring follow up see the consultant paediatrician who cared for them in the hospital in their private consulting rooms or the Casey General Paediatric Clinic.
At Casey Hospital we care for general paediatric inpatients and babies born at the hospital or transferred from tertiary sites. In our paediatric ward we now provide high flow therapy for children with moderate to severe respiratory conditions. Babies in our special care nursery can also receive high flow or continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP.)
