Update to visitor numbers and hours
Important message for all Visitors
Protecting our patients and residents who can be vulnerable to infections during a hospital stay is paramount.
To keep us all safe we need to reduce the number of people coming into Monash Health.
Monash Health is limiting the number and times permitted.
We understand this may cause disappointment, but these measures are necessary to keep people safe.
Of course, exceptional circumstances may occur that require an exemption. Please use the latest information and your clinical judgement of what is best for the patients in your care.
Visitors should not attend if they:
- Are unwell, or
- have a fever, cough, sore throat or shortness of breath, or
- have travelled overseas in the past 14 days, or
- have been in contact with someone with COVID-19 (Coronavirus).
Unless otherwise indicated (see variations below):
> There is to be no more than one visitor per day, per patient
> No Children under 16 years of age
> Visits between the hours of 1pm to 3pm and 5pm to 7pm
> Visits up to one hour only
Variations to this are as follows
Parents only, and at any time.
Parents/carers only, at any time.
Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU)
Limited to one parent or carer, at any time. No grandparents, no siblings or children under 16 years of age, no visitors.
In exceptional circumstances, exemptions will be made by the PICU senior medical staff or nurse in charge.
We know these restrictions may be difficult for families and friends, but we are asking for continuing cooperation as we work through these challenging times to safeguard our community and employees.
These restrictions may change if the situation changes. For an update to visitor numbers and hours across Monash Health, please visit Monash Health’s Information about coronavirus disease (COVID-19) webpage.
